Webinar Title: Coaching Meets the Brain
2023 Event Series: Examining Coaching from Different Perspectives
Guest Coach: Gorka Bartolomé, PhD, MCC
Webinar Date: February 23, 2023
This session is an interactive and creative workshop by Gorka Bartolomé, PhD, MCC, to demonstrate how the use of coaching competencies impacts the brain. Through a series of exercises, we will learn how to apply his neuroscience research findings in our coaching practice, and to better understand what makes non-directive coaching uniquely effective as a discipline. The workshop will focus specifically on competencies 2, 4, and 5: Embodies a Coaching Mindset, Cultivates Trust & Safety, and Maintains Presence.
Scope and sequence for the two-hour event:
Beginning – 25 minutes: Discussion of definition of “difficult client” and what that might look like for participants (large group discussion), as well as some possible categories for “who is a difficult client.”
Middle – 60 minutes: Participants take out a pen and paper and start writing down 1-3 (anonymous) difficult clients of their own, followed by triads discussing those, then large group discussion of findings. Then, participants are shown Lilian’s own practice-wide exercise for discovering and working with her own difficult clients, and given time to do that for themselves. This is followed by triad discussions and large group debrief.
Conclusion – 15 minutes: Sharing of final insights in a large group format, as well as discussion of how to use this going forward, individually or with a trained coach supervisor.

Presented By: Wendy Dolber, ACC, MA, Belief Centered Coach, Option Method Master Teacher
Webinar Date: February 27, 2020
As coaches, the last thing we want is to get triggered in a coaching session. Triggers take us right out of the present moment, drastically diminish our listening skills and otherwise pull the rug out from under our core competencies.
We all have ways of coping with triggers, but what if we can do better? In this 90-minute interactive webinar, Wendy Dolber will introduce you to a technique that you can use to efficiently and effectively “detrigger” your personal and professional life.
Here are some of the questions we’ll consider:
- What triggers you?
- What are triggers really all about?
- What’s the one element that all triggers share?
- How can you defuse and even eliminate triggers in your personal and professional life?
- How can you help your clients defuse and eliminate triggers?
- What are the 5 easy questions that work like a charm?
