The President is responsible for the oversight to ensure the activities of the Board and members are in alignment with the vision and mission of the Chapter. The key responsibilities of this position include the following:
Key Knowledge Needs
- Create keen awareness of ICF Global Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Plan initiatives
- Chapter Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Plan and Priorities
- Ensure Chapter adherence to Chapter Bylaws, Policies and Procedures
- Complete ICF Volunteer Leader Training within 3 months of appointment as Board member (2 hours)
Global Responsibilities
- Serve as liaison between the Chapter and ICF Global (unless another Board member is designated as the liaison) and ensure ICF Global guidelines, reporting procedures and policies are made known and adhered to
- Maintain regular communication with the Regional Manager
- Serve as a member of the Regional Forum (for Chapter Presidents) or appoint a designee (monthly presidents’ meetings - 1 hour)
- Attend ICF Global Leadership Forum (2 days once a year, virtual)
- Review the ICF Chapter Agreement annually, sign and submit to ICF Global at start of term
- Oversee the annual ICF Chapter Activity Report and verify on time submission to ICF Global
- Verify on time submission of annual ICF Financial Report
Responsibilities to the Board
Responsible for the overall leadership of the Chapter and Board for the term of the Presidency (2 years)
Meeting obligations: Lead all meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Team (if applicable)
- 12 board meetings (10 @ 90 min, 2 @ 4 hours)
- Executive Committee meetings (10 @ 90 minutes)
- Work with Coaches to the Board (Monthly, 60-120 minutes)
- Work with Past President’s Advisory Committee (quarterly, 90 minutes)
- Facilitate Board meetings (set meeting agenda, manage report outs, discussions, voting process, and follow-up on outstanding actions items, etc.) Work with the Board Secretary to prepare agenda and voting (12 – 60 min.)
- Conduct annual Board Orientation and onboarding (during January board meeting)
- Lead discussions around key decisions for the chapter with input from the rest of the Board and appropriate voting (Board meetings; executive committee meetings)
- Set and facilitate organizational strategy with input from the Board (executive committee & Board retreats)
- Review ICF financial documents regularly, submit budget needs, and conduct audits as necessary for the Executive committee meeting (Treasurer)
- Support and defend policies and programs adopted by the Board of Directors
- Authorize as one of two signatures on checks, contracts, and legal documents for Chapter
- Conduct transition meeting with successor
Responsibilities to Membership
- Presides over the Annual Meeting of the Chapter’s membership (if applicable) (Coachesgiving, VP Community Networking)
- Present a year-in-review to chapter membership with annual membership numbers, financials, and significant accomplishments at the Annual meeting and report to membership (via recording).
- Communicate regularly with the membership through meetings and other channels, such as Town halls (quarterly – 2 sessions @ 60 minutes); prepare President’s message for the monthly Newsletter.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee performance of Chapter Administrator/Virtual Assistant (if applicable), including monthly meetings and an annual performance review. (Coordination meetings with Virtual Assistant)
- 1-1’s with various Board members each month (optional)
Other
- Act as support/mentor to Vice Presidents
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
